I think this is an important and vital way to shop... I live very close to a grocery store but many people live a great distance away where it is highly inconvenient to go to.. this a great option to save time xox

One of our stores offers home delivery but I've never done it. I have friends who have but I just don't trust that they'll get exactly what I want. Plus I don't want to be putting more stuff on my credit card. I pay with cash. Although shopping is a wretched task that I dread and speed through as fast as possible so maybe someday I'll try it.

It harkens back to the days when a woman could pick up a phone and call in an order to her grocer or butcher and they'd deliver. Yet, I still think I'll be going in the physical store as long as I am able. I just prefer to see the meat and veggies before I buy them.

We can't grocery shop on line in my neck of the woods. I certainly use the internet for banking and order a lot of stuff rather than go out shopping for it.

i can remember my aunt calling the local grocery store, giving her order over the phone and having it all delivered later in the day. I don't know about ordering groceries online. How would I get all my impulse purchases? Oh, wait. Maybe that is a good thing.

I have never shopped this way but it is very intriguing to me as I often have to load all the beans up and take them with me to get all the food which makes for a busy trip! Thank you for this great information! Nicole

A great way for folks not near their grocery shopping. I happen to have a large market very close.

Interesting article. I know a few who have their groceries delivered, but they are up there in age.

I like to touch smell and feel. I like to see the bargains. I always buy more things than what I come for.
Then you see people, talk to the cashier, maybe stop and have a coffee or a hair cut.
Good to keep people socialized.
Of course if you are not able to go out then on line shopping is the next best thing but then they charge you an arm and leg for gas.lol
People who live up north who have to pay 30.00 for a container of juice, would benefit hiring a charter plane and load it up for the year or maybe hire a truck and load it up and bring it up for 19.99 a day.

Buying groceries online may be a time convenience but it also means you can only shop at the one store and must be home and up to receive your order (I see the Grocery Gateway trucks pout delivering before 7am). Also, they will make substitutes that may not be to your liking. I'd just as soon go to the store of my choosing and take advantage of the sales. Of course, it helps that all the major supermarkets are nearby.

I remember using a grocery service many years ago, but they went out of business. I'd love to utilize one again since grocery shopping is such a chore!

I used to work with a guy that had his groceries delivered every week to his home. I thought it was a great idea since he wasn't in the best of health. Having then delivered to his door really helped him out a lot. For me, I like the idea of doing my own grocery shopping, but if I'm ever not able to, I'm glad there are other options available.

Very interesting. I can remember a small local grocery when I was growing up that you could call in your order and they would deliver.

As a member of our Direct Charge Co-op, I can buy grocery, fresh meat and fish, fresh baked goods, gourmet coffees, furniture, electronics, clothing, toys, footwear, magazines and books, pharmaceutical, flower arrangements, jewellery,
gardening needs, household appliances, lawn mowers, snow blowers, small appliances and it's only minutes from my home and I love interacting with people. They sell to members and have sales every weeks and I save a lot of money by stocking up on sales items.

I have occasionally bought books online but nothing beats going in a real book store.

Have a great day.

Great post. I do shop on line except for groceries. We have a very close huge market and do enjoy going there.
Everything else can really be a big help and especially when the shipping is free.
Since I have a shop on etsy, I like to begin shopping their first with other sellers for gifts and special items.
Have a great week.

Grocery shopping is something I am just not fond of doing each week. I would love to explore the option of online grocery shopping a little more. It sure would be a time saver, and less stress waiting in long grocery lines!
