Happiness is an Art, isn’t it?

I would say happiness is an Art, not a science. It’s a mindset we need to practice our brain to be cheerful all the times. But, it is easy to say than follow. As we go through lot of struggles, challenges throughout our life, it is difficult to find joy in all circumstances. Today’s competitive environment created lot of stress in our mind, leads to unwanted strain in our relationship.

How to find happiness in our life? Is that possible to create joy surround us? Do we need to plan for happiness? It is not creating or intentionally searching the ecstasy in us. It is not a physical object or something we need to visualize to enjoy it. It is a feel we need to cherish, something we experience as a result of something positive in our life. We can’t plan for happiness, but we can plan to create positive environment around us and prepared to be successful in our actions which gives happiness as a result. Thus, various factors affect our happiness; it could be our financial mess, bad health, strained relationship, failure, stressful work environment, terrible marriage life, bad habits etc. It could be anything, can’t set a boundary for the reasons affecting our happiness. At times, we can’t control these factors as well. But, we can develop a workaround to come out of these muddle to attain the state of happiness.

The happiness is highly unpredictable as it’s very difficult to foresee the outcome of success at different stages of life in the long run. Hence, it is advisable to practice enjoying small things in life as and when we come across such situations. For example, going for a long vacation to a foreign country brings lot of cheers to us and family. But, it can’t be a frequent event, can be planned once in a year or once in two years. I would say, rather waiting for these moments for such a long period, we need to learn how to feel the happiness in short weekend outings, get together with friends and family which can be more frequent and easy to plan. Thought it is difficult to find happiness in stressful work life, we can find time to take a break and go out for dinner with family or friends. It helps to rejuvenate ourselves and strengthen the relationship as well. It’s all about bringing smile in our face and people surround us. It’s all about finding small ways to create the positive environment to feel and enjoy the pleasure.

When I talk about small things to find happiness, I prefer going out with family for dinner once in a week. It won’t be a big bash feast, but simple, cost effective get together to spend time in a peaceful environment and cherish the moments. It’s really refreshes my mind, brings lot of happiness and feel the togetherness. We usually go for Pizza treat in the nearby mall, I love eating pizzas with chilled Coca Cola, it instantly pep up my mind and feel refreshed. Though it sounds simple, but the moments we are enjoying the foods and drinks cherishes altogether with lot of happiness. Likewise, we learned to see the joy on small things in our daily life and learned to feel the happiness. This helps to keep a smile on the face and create a positive effect around us. Having enjoyed all such experiences on small stuff, I confidently say that happiness is an Art, not a science.

Happiness can really be a struggle for some people. I think they are looking for it in the wrong places. Happiness is like you said - the small things like dinner with the family or really good friends once in awhile. The smile on someone's face when you open the door for them. Little things that make our world a better place make us happy. I really am happy most of the time but I had to learn what made me happy.

I find dozens of little moments of happiness in every day. Without them, I don't know if I could survive at times. Like the coffee I'm sipping now. Gazing out the window beyond my PC screen and glimpsing the horse or birds. Reading a book while on break at work to get my head totally out of the workplace for a short time. Hugging my children or my grandchild. Petting my cat, Tom Kitty. The grand moments of happiness are wonderful, but it is the smaller tidbits that sustain us.

Happiness as an art? Yeah that works.
For years I have heard Beer and Pizza, that has never been me, I have liked them both, but not together. Give me Cola and Pizza, yep that is comfort and happiness.

It's the little things that are so special. Each week, we eat at our favorite little restaurant and treat ourselves to iced tea with lemon - a real treat because normally we drink only water! Thank you for your kindness regarding the loss of our little dog.

Love this post... Happiness is a choice... We choose to see the bright side of life or not. We choose to think of the glass as half full or half empty.....

My motto is "Surround yourself with POSITIVE people".... People can bring happiness to us... BUT--we still must seek to find that JOY within us--even when times are tough..
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm one of those people whose brain chemistry allows me to be happy MOST of the time. It may be a state of mind, but there are a lot of things we consume that can have an affect on that state. :)

Why am I craving a Coke all of a sudden? :-)

I think happiness is in the little things. We all have to figure out what those little things are...but time with loved ones is definitely part of it.

I think you have to look for the little things in life, there's so many things around us to make us happy, we just have to see them for what they are as we often miss them in the hustle and bustle of life.
