How to overcome the raising fuel cost?

As we all struggling to cope up with raising fuel cost, the best way to save our money on fuel is to take few simple steps to improve the fuel efficiency of our car. The change in our driving behavior really helps.

Learn to drive – Yes, we all having driving license and know how to drive on roads, but we should learn the technical side of how best we can use the accelerator and clutch to get the maximum out of fuel. We should follow a rhythm while accelerating the car and avoid instant speed during start up. Timing the brakes, switching the gears to top up the speed will count your money in fuel saving.

Get serviced – It is vital to get your car serviced at regular interval. Identify a branded service station in your locality and visit the workshop periodically to check the Air filter, Tyre pressure, oil level, air conditioning, brakes, wheel alignment, spark plug etc. These are very important for better fuel efficiency as well as for your safe journey. Don’t forget to lend a friendship hand with the engineer in the workshop to get better service for your car.

Feed your car – Try to fill the fuel during early morning. This way you can save the fuel from evaporation. It might sound negligible, but it will have its own role in saving your money.
.
Unload your car – You might have packed your car with all unwanted stuffs. Have a look at your car boot and remove all the weights from your car. If you add weight it will take away the fuel. A study shows 30 kg weight will consume 2 % of more fuel.

Car Air conditioning – You need to use your car AC only when necessary, if not go by nature. Keep your windows open and enjoy the fresh breath. If you are going long journey, the use of AC can be more fuel efficient than open windows.

I never thought about filling the car up in the early morning. Great idea! We use a ton of gas since we live out in the country and commute to the city for work, so these tips are really helpful.

We follow most of those rules quite well but having a truck we have a lot of weight in the back end with all of Jim's tools and stuff. So we have to budget for that.
