Munnar - Beautiful Hill Station for vacation


Visiting Munnar has been a pleasant experience and you will enjoy the chillness of nature in the midst of clouds. Munnar is located at the Idukki district of Kerala State in South India. Munnar attracts honeymoon couples and tourists all throughout the year. Its greenery nature, cool refreshing air, marvellous scenery helps tourists to enjoy their vacation. Travel from Thekkady to Munnar will be a wonderful experience, its one of the best scenic route to reach Munnar.


The word "Munnar" means three rivers flowing together in a place; its in the mid of three mountains namely, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Munnar which is located 1600 metre above sea level was one of the summer resorts for the British Government in South India. It’s fully covered with sprawling tea plantations, cloudy, trekking locations. Munnar is one of the major centres for Tea Plantations in India.
   

Best Time to Visit Munnar:

Tourist can visit Munnar throughout the year except June – July. Best season to visit Munnar is August through March. The weather is extremely cold during Winter, December – January.

Munnar has pleasant weather all through the year, temperature ranging from 0°C to 10°C in winter and 15°C - 28°C in summer

Tata Tea Museum – Located 2 Km from Munnar Centre on the Nallathany Road – You can see the Tea machinery, tea processing and tea tasting here.
Blossom International Park at Munnar – Beautiful garden
Marayoor Sandalwood forest
Devikulam - Lake Town – 7 KM away from Munnar centre
Anamudi – One of the highest peak of South India, great place for adventurous trekking.
Rajamalai (Eravikulam National Park) – Place for Trekking
Chinnar Wild Sanctuary – Place to see Elephants from the watch tower
Mattupetty – Boating in Mattupetty dam, beautiful place – 14 KM from Munnar

How to reach Munnar:

Air: The nearest airport is Cochin – 135 KM from Munnar – 4 Hours journey on road

Rail: The nearest railway station is Ernakulam – 135 KM from Munnar – 4 Hours journey on road

Road: 160 KM from Madurai; 300 KM from Thiruvananthapuram, 100 KM from Thekkaady, and 150 KM from Coimbatore
 


Accommodation at Munnar:

There are plenty of hotels available in Munnar at all levels to meet wide range of customers. The price starts as low as Rs 500 per day. It will be  good to book the hotel before coming to Munnar. The price will shoot up during peak season.

Beautiful pictures. Munnar is really a beautiful place,is often called the Scotland of India, the British loved it as it reminded them of their country.
We have visited Munnar many times, and have always enjoyed our visits.
